Brackett Instruments
Handmade acoustic guitars
Grover NC
The perceived magic of Brazilian Rosewood has been discussed for years everywhere from music stores to internet chat rooms. We're constructed 4 otherwise identical guitars using 4 different types of Rosewood.
The backs and sides are Brazilian Rosewood, Honduran Rosewood, Panama Rosewood and East Indian Rosewood. Each of these guitars feature Adirondack Red Spruce tops, and top bracing. 25.4" scale Mahogany necks with a Rosewood strip in the center of the neck. The fingerboards are Ebony bound in Maple. Bridges are handmade Ebony Pyramid style with bone nuts and saddles. The nut widths are 1 3/4" and string spacing at the saddles is 2 1/4" The Rosettes are Abalone. The body binding is Maple with Herringbone purfling. These guitars are finished in varnish. The bodies are Pre War Martin style dreadnoughts with scalloped bracing.
Update 11/14/09
All four guitars are completed and ready to go. I put some other projects in front of this project, that's why it has taken so long. 3 of these guitars are sold with payments pending in December so there was no need to hurry to complete them. The Panama Rosewood guitar is still available, and will be ready for delivery after the recordings are made. Check my "available now" page for info on it in a few days or contact me for more info.
