                         Deposit and payment information

A non refundable deposit of $500 is due to start on your guitar.   $100 is due when you want to reserve your spot in line,  and current pricing.  $400 more,  for a total of $500 is due upon starting construction.    I'll send you pictures so you can pick out the specific wood sets used on your guitar.     Very expensive options or extremely strange combinations may require a bigger deposit.    If you change your mind for any reason within 1 week of me receiving your deposit I'll refund it no questions asked.  After those 7 days the deposit is non refundable.   Expected completion of your guitar after receiving your deposit and confirming your specs is 4 to 6 months.   Hopefully closer to 4 months but delays happen.   I have a full time job,  that's how I'm able to give such great prices.  I'll keep you informed of the progress of your guitar.   Although I'm not a great photographer I'll also send you some pictures of the construction process.   3 weeks before the guitar is ready to ship I'll contact you to make arrangements for final payment.   When the guitar is completed,  and final payment is received I'll ship the guitar.  Buyer pays actual shipping cost.  I only ship with USPS.   I'll pay for shipping insurance.  If the guitar is damaged in shipping I'll repair it,  replace it,  or refund your money.  It's your choice.  If you do have shipping damage,  please save all packing materials to help me with an insurance claim.   If you want me to ship with another carrier you assume all responsibility for shipping damage.      The buyer is responsible for any duties,  tarriffs customs fees or taxes.   We accept Paypal for payment,  as well as other methods.
                                      Return Policy
I offer a 1 week inspection period after you receive your guitar. If there's a problem I want to work with you to fix it. If you still want to return the guitar I'll refund your money, excluding shipping cost and your initial deposit. You will be responsible for return shipping and insurance. The guitar must be returned in it's original condition, with the exception of strings. (changing strings won't cancel the return policy, some dealers do this) The deposit can go toward another guitar or if I sell your guitar for the original price I'll refund your deposit then. It's my belief that some people abuse return policies. This is my attempt to prevent such abuse. I've never had anyone want to return a guitar.    Obviously if you buy a "spec" guitar,  a prototype,  or any guitar that doesn't require a deposit you'll receive a full refund,  minus shipping cost.   This includes the Rosewood Project guitars.

                                       Warranty
I offer a limited lifetime Warranty on every guitar I build against defects in materials and workmanship.   It's limited to my working lifetime.  As long as I'm mentally and physically able I'll repair it.  As of 2010 I'm 46 years old and healthy.    This warranty isn't limited to the original owner,  but I do want any new owners to contact me and let me know what Brackett Instruments guitar you've got,  and who you got it from.  As of May 2010 no Brackett Instrument original owners have ever wanted to sell their guitar.  (they've sold some made by other builders after receiving the one we built them though)   Normal wear and abuse isn't covered.    Any non warranty repairs will be made at as good of a price as possible.    Third party products,  such as tuning machines,  pickups ect,  are covered by whatever warranty their manufacturer offers.     Neither Woodrow or Sandy Brackett,  as well as Brackett Instruments are responsible for any damages caused by the guitar,  although I don't know how a guitar could damage something.

Proper care of acoustic guitars is important,  especially maintaining the correct humidity.  Ideally the relative humidity where your guitar is kept should be between 40% and 55%.   In 2010 I've started including a properly calibrated hygrometer (humidity meter) with every guitar.  Contact me for more specifics on the proper care of your guitar.
